Babylon A.D. Trailer

June 11th, 2008

The last time there was a BABYLON A.D. teaser trailer, I was perhaps a little bit hard. This official trailer saves face. Big time. You firstly can’t go wrong with a trailer that features its main character suggesting he actually dies. I mean it’s ballsy when narrators in actual films reveal they are dead (AMERICAN BEAUTY, SUNSET BOULEVARD), but to allude to that possibility in a trailer? Well done. Even the rest of the trailer does a good job of erasing any trepidations I have that this is just an action man’s CHILDREN OF MEN, and actually has me excited that it’s well, an action man’s CHILDREN OF MEN. It also just looks like a great little futuristic science fiction film, something I can never get enough of. It’s also got some neat special effects (that slow-motion explosion at the end), and of course Vin Diesel playing a grumpy mercenary with a heart of gold. Not an original role, sure, but exactly the kind of role that’s perfect for Mr. Diesel.

BABYLON A.D. Trailer and Poster

May 15th, 2008

A day after I posted my sad-sack declaration of longing for the return of Vin Diesel, the trailer for BABYLON A.D. hit the net. Sadly, it does little to assuage anything. It’s mostly Vin Diesel just walking around looking like a hobo, followed by a near epileptic seizure inducing mish-mash of quickly edited shows that succeed in telling you absolutely nothing about the film. Well, that’s not true. It tells us Vin Diesel is capable of walking very, very morosely, something the just released poster can also back up.

You can find both the trailer and the post here.
