REEL Rumor: Dirty Harry rides again?
March 20th, 2008

Just yesterday it was announced that Clint Eastwood would finally be returning to acting after a four year self-exile (his last gig was MILLION DOLLAR BABY). The film’s plot is being carefully guarded by Warner Brothers, but it is called GRAN TURINO – which Eastwood will of course also direct – and is being prepared to be released later this year along with Clint’s thriller, CHANGELING.
While news of Eastwood returning to acting was enough to get the blogo-sphere a-buzzing, it now seems there’s a bit more to this story that we all initially thought. Well, apparently (and you can read this next bit over at Ain’t It Cool) someone was selling their 1974 Ford Grand Torino, and was approached by a representative from Village Roadshow Pictures. That representative informed the seller that they were looking for a car for a new Eastwood film. Specifically, “it was a thriller about a killer that drives a certain torino. His 1972 Ford Gran Torino is the only thing the police have on him. A retired police lieutenant, one Harry Callahan, makes it his mission to track down the culprit when two young police officers, one Callahan’s grandson, are shot and killed by the guy.”
That’s right folks. If this rumor proves to be true, it looks like Rocky, Rambo, and Indiana Jones won’t be the only finely aged heroes to wobble their way out of retirement. Harry Callahan, a.k.a. Dirty Harry, may just be coming back to make us all feel lucky and make our day in the sixth (and probably final) installment of the series.
