The TV Addict 

This film about a guy who posts a personal ad on craigslist looking for a New Year’s Eve date is pretty much the kind of film that seems tailor made for me. I’m a big fan of what one might call the “two people meet and spend a day/evening together just talking and hanging out and usually falling in love” genre, i.e. films like BEFORE SUNRISE/BEFORE SUNSET. It’s probably because I’m a huge romantic sap. Sometimes my roommate will walk past my room, see a big goofy grin spread across my face, and immediately know I’m watching something gooey involving two people falling in love via an adorable courtship. Then he rolls his eyes. As I imagine he will do when I watch this film that just seems positively delightful, and genuinely romantic. In fact, the film seems so full of vibrant, amorous charm, that it wasn’t until the second time I watched it that I actually realized it was in black and white.
