Introducing the Addicts: Kristal Cooper
January 7th, 2009
Kristal Cooper was indoctrinated into the world of movie-lovers at a very early age by parents who would sneak her into the drive-in on a weekly basis even when the movies were Rated R. As a teen, she went on to host mini-film festivals in her basement populated by offerings culled from the extensive b-movie section at her local video store (example: “Movies Featuring a Guy in a Bear Suit for No Apparent Reason” - surprisingly, there were 3). She started her professional career as a part of the year round staff at the Toronto International Film Festival Group where she worked for 4 years, followed by a two year stretch at the Canadian Film Centre’s Feature Film Project. Currently she continues to work as a small cog in the giant machinery of the Toronto film community and is working on several different writing projects. She also worships at the altar of David Lynch and has a weakness for horror films, documentaries and dance movies from the ‘80s.
