REEL News: Connery Appearing in INDIANA JONES

Seems like everything is coming up Sean Connery of late. In addition to the recent news that Connery may be playing a Bond villain opposite Daniel Craig, an insider over on Ain’t It Cool has discovered that he will in fact be showing up in INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL film, returning as Indy’s dad. Though his character was rumored to be in the script, a while back he had the following to say: “I thought long and hard about it and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an Indiana Jones film. I love working with Steven and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son. But in the end, retirement is just too damned much fun.” It would seem this was little more than an elaborate deflection on the part of all involved to get us off this trail. Though how long his screen time will be is still unclear, the insider claims that Jones Sr. will be in the early parts of the film when Indy needs some advice about his current adventure, and that his father even tags along for the less dangerous parts of it. Honestly, I couldn’t be more excited. I was always a little bitter Connery wouldn’t come out of retirement for this, even more so when I heard the recent news that he might do so for the Bond franchise. Sure, that series made him a star, but come on! Indiana Jones! I shall now humbly swallow my bitterness, and replace with utter, unrestrained glee.

What do you guys think? Excited for the return of Connery as Indy’s Dad? Think there’s too much crazy casting going on in this film now?
